Kate Slade was awarded the competitive Syncona PhD scholarship. Following her MSc in Molecular Biology and Pathology of Viruses where she did her 6-month MSc project in the Maertens Lab, she continues her research into understanding how HTLV-1 uses PP2A-B56 and its binding partners to establish infection.
The Syncona PhD scholarship is unique in that it supports specifically bright students from a BAME background and offers a mentor for the duration of the PhD as well as a paid internship in the fourth year of the PhD. Well done Kate!
